What usually happens next
Most people who write to us about Freemasonry in Reading are simply curious. They have a question or two, we answer them honestly, and that is where it ends. That is a perfectly good outcome, and it is the most common one. There is nothing to sign up to at this stage, and no follow-up unless you ask for one.
If you would like to go further, it tends to happen slowly and in ordinary ways. A conversation over coffee. An invitation to meet some of our members and see what the lodge is actually like. Nothing is scheduled and nothing is expected of you. Should you eventually decide you would like to join, two members would propose you and the lodge would take the time to know you properly first, but that is a long way down the road and nobody will raise it before you do.
Whether you would be eligible
In case you are wondering. Freemasonry in Reading, as everywhere, is open to any man aged 18 or over who is of good character and who holds a belief in a Supreme Being. It welcomes men of all faiths and asks nothing about which one you follow. It does not ask about your job, your income or your background.
Where to find Freemasonry in Reading and in Earley
Erlegh Lodge meets at the Berkshire Masonic Centre in Sindlesham, a short drive from Earley, Reading and Wokingham.
We meet on the first Tuesday of May, June, July, August and December. Meetings are followed by dinner together, and guests are always made welcome.
