Common questions

What people ask about Freemasonry in Reading

Do I need to know a Freemason?

No. You do not need to be invited, and you do not need to know a member already. The first move can be yours.

How much time and money does it take?

Erlegh is a summer lodge, meeting on five evenings a year: the first Tuesday of May, June, July, August and December, usually from 6pm. Across Berkshire, annual dues average around £200, varying by lodge. Meals and charitable giving are extra and always a personal choice.

Is Freemasonry a religion?

No. It asks that a member holds a belief in a Supreme Being, however he understands that, and it welcomes men of every faith. Membership is open to any man aged 18 or over who is of good character.
